With survival horror benefitting of something of a resurgence of late, it’s no surprise to see another studio throwing it’s hat into the ring. However, while SENSEs: Midnight looks to be taking a passive approach to action, Project Nightmares promises a much more immediate scarefest.
Developed by NC Studios, Project Nightmares tells the story of a group of scientists dedicated to studying the paranormal. As the regular means of analysis proved too limited, they devised a new means of examination. Using a device of their design, they are able to induce telepathically-gifted patients into a dream state and connect their minds to a cursed or malignant object. Thus, allowing them to investigate their history and put a stop to the evil they embody.
You are one of those patients.
When inside the nightmare, you’ll never know what’s going to happen next. This is thanks to Project Nightmare‘s procedural generation. Even on multiple playthroughs the game constantly shifts, taking advantage of varying elements to create a new experience.
Project Nightmares Release Date Reveal
In the game you will play through the case of Henrietta Kedward. You’ll be able to connect with this malicious old woman through a malignant toy with a dark past and soon you’ll find yourself in a nightmare set during her lifetime, surrounded by terror and mystery. The above trailer reveals that the game is coming soon.
The game’s full name, Project Nightmares Case 36: Henrietta Kedward, makes us wonder what happened to the other 35 cases. Perhaps we’ll find out when the game launches on Xbox consoles, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 27th April, 2023.
