If you love the on-rail shooting action of games like House of the Dead and Time Crisis then keep reading. Dead Drop Studios is currently working on Railbreak, a homage to those classic wave-based shooters. Due for release in December, you can now pre-order the Xbox edition of the game.
The stars of Dead Drop Studios’ upcoming Outbreak: Shades of Horror, Lydia and Hank, take the central stage in this new shooter. Featuring a full-story campaign, blast through seven scenarios filled with shambling zombies. You don’t need to go it alone either, as there’s optional co-op support to bring a mate along.
Runnin’ and gunnin’ on rails
Once you’ve mastered the campaign why not go back and practice individual levels with the Score Attack mode? And you guessed it, try to improve your score each time. Then there’s the never-ending Onslaught mode when only an unending supply of zombies will do!
“We created Railbreak to be the ultimate throwback arcade shooter with waves upon waves of creepy creatures for you to destroy,” says Evan Wolbach, co-founder of Dead Drop Studios in a statement. “With so many options and means to enjoy Railbreak’s nostalgic and simple-to-learn but tough-to-master gameplay, anyone can jump in and rain down sweet, sweet carnage on Cypress Ridge’s newly unwelcome guests.”
Adding to that retro shooter feel. If you happen to be playing on a PC, you can use a Sinden Lightgun.
Alongside this upcoming launch, Dead Drop Studios recently released Dino Crisis spiritual successor, Dinobreak.
Railbreak officially launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on 22nd December 2023.
