Half Mermaid’s 2022 hit, Immortality, is a videogame like no other. An award-winning and critically acclaimed project, it’s more akin to editing a film than a game. Originally released for PC and Xbox, it’s even appeared on Netflix. However, the PlayStation has been notably absent. Not for much longer as Immortality is set for a PS5 launch later this month.

The game is based around the character of Marissa Marcel, a once-aspiring actress. She made a total of three movies, but none of the movies were ever released. Marcel then disappeared, with clues to be uncovered within the film reels.

“From the inception of this project, the goal has been sharing Marissa Marcel’s life and work with as large an audience as possible,” says IMMORTALITY director, Sam Barlow. “So I am thrilled to bring IMMORTALITY to PlayStation gamers and bring them face to face with a lost legend.”

With all three of Marissa Marcel’s lost movies and their hours of footage to peruse, Immortality is packed full of content. You have to explore lost footage, taking snapshots of characters and objects that create new leads. This method allows you to cut your own path through the mystery, and discover what happened to Marcel. All from the mind of Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story.

IMMORTALITY was written by Allan Scott (Don’t Look Now, Queen’s Gambit), Amelia Gray (Mr. Robot, Maniac) and Barry Gifford (Wild at Heart, Lost Highway).

Half Mermaid has also added some PlayStation flavour to the release. There are new haptic and controller speaker features to bring to life the game’s virtual moviola. And for true cinephiles, the game includes a Platinum Trophy.

IMMORTALITY will be available for PS5 from 23rd January, priced at $19.99 USD.
