Michael Keaton, actor of the titular character in the 1989 movie Batman, has opened up on his thoughts about the recent cancellation of the Batgirl movie. Keaton was set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for the film, which was due to see Leslie Grace star as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon. In a new interview, Michael Keaton talks Batgirl axing for the very first time.

Keaton attended the Emmy Awards Monday night. He was in attendance for Dopesick. The Hulu production for which the actor won his first Emmy for his role as Dr. Samuel Finnix. However, it didn’t take long for the cancellation to come around to Batgirl.

He told Variety: “I think it was a business decision. I’m going to assume it was a good one. I really don’t know.

“We’ll see,” he continued. “It was great. It was fun. I really have no idea.”

The actor was set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batgirl. However, it now seems we’ll have to wait until The Flash arrives next year to see Keaton return as the Caped Crusader.

Michael Keaton: Serial Award Winner

Keaton made awards show history last night by becoming the first male actor to win all five major TV awards. He took home the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie Emmy at the Primetime Emmy Awards for his performance in Dopesick.

The 70-year-old actor added to the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes, SAG Awards and Television Critics Association Awards he has already won.

Accepting the prize at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, he said: “Thanks to the great folks at Disney and Hulu and everybody at that table. This is one of the special projects I’ve ever worked on. It means something, so thanks a lot. It’s wonderful. I’m very, very grateful.”

Now that Michael Keaton talks Batgirl axing for the first time, who else is going to comment on the situation? We’ve already heard the directors were ‘shocked’ by the cancellation, and even Brendan Fraser has thoughts.
