Red Barrels recently unveiled exciting developments for their critically acclaimed title, The Outlast Trials. Currently available in Early Access on PC, the game was confirmed for a 2024 console launch at Gamescom in August. Now, more details on the co-op horror experience have been revealed, including crossplay support and the new ‘Halloween Major Update’ coming soon.

Set in the height of the Cold War era, players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact.

The Outlast Trials Crossplay

According to a statement from the studio, Red Barrels is committed to enabling crossplay between console and PC players. The team want to allow for a seamless social experience to be shared across platforms. Through player feedback, suggestion or other methods, Matchmaking will also have improvements made with how Trials are selected to involve the group instead of just the leader.

Co-op is vital to The Outlast Trials. The studio is ‘dedicated’ to delivering a polished and unforgettable experience to all players.
