Fans have been calling for a return of the classic Dino Crisis series for quite some time. Despite Capcom’s assertions that they’re looking into reviving dormant franchises, we’ve seen nothing on that front. So, it’s been left to Dead Drop Studios to revive the series, with ‘spiritual successor’ Dinobreak.
This new, action-packed take on classic games like Dino Crisis and Resident Evil promises a ‘gripping’ story and accessible difficulty options. The game will feature three interchangeable camera views – fixed, third-person, and first-person – and optional two player local co-op play. Plus there’s tons of unlockables, as would be expected, and a bonus arcade mode.

Dino-Evil Gameplay
Players will take on the role of Lydia as she navigates a crisis threatening the city of Cypress Ridge. On your quest for refuge you’ll find yourself face-to-face with dinosaur eggs. Will you tip-toe by and hope to avoid them hatching? Or blast them all in hopes of ending the chaos?
In typical Dino Crisis fashion, players must be careful and ammo and resources are limited. Furthermore, it’s not all about action. The game will feature many puzzles and scenarios that call for brain power as much as brawn.
“With Dinobreak, we’re answering the massive fan demand for a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis,” says Dead Drop Studios co-founder Evan Wolbach. “We’re thrilled to finally bring the prehistoric survival horror experience into the future, both for fans who yearn for the retro experience, and for newcomers who haven’t yet fallen in love with the tense and exciting gameplay this genre has to offer.”

Dinobreak Launch Details
Developer Dead Drop Studios is an indie studio created by a husband and wife duo. The team focuses on creating retro-style survival horror games for the modern gamer. Along with Dinobreak, the studio’s next announced title, Outbreak: Shades of Horror, is built in Unreal Engine 5 and promises a next-generation survival horror experience for console and PC platforms in 2025.
Ahead of this however, you can strap up and draw your weapons when Dinobreak launches 4th October, 2023. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and PC. Dinobreak will be priced at $19.99 USD.
