Earlier this month an iconic pop culture hero made his big comeback. The part-man, part-machine, all cop saw a revival with RoboCop: Rogue City. According to publisher Nacon, the game was very well received. More than 435,000 players have played the game in the two weeks since launch, with more than 2.7 million active game sessions. This makes RoboCop: Rogue City a ‘great success’ for Nacon. The game has become the publisher’s most played software launch of all time.
Developed by Teyon, RoboCop: Rogue City immerses the player in Old Detroit, after the events of the second film. The player must restore law and order to a city into chaos with the arrival of a new crime lord. The gameplay alternates between explosive battles, investigations in the field and side quests. These side quests allow players to decide citizens’ fates, thereby affecting the game progression.
Alain FALC, CEO of Nacon, had this to say about its success: “RoboCop: Rogue City has exceeded our expectations, and achieved a genuine feat as far as NACON is concerned. We are really proud to have been able to work with the studio Teyon on this game created by and for RoboCop die-hards. We would also like to thank MGM for the trust they placed in us throughout this collaboration, as well as all the players who have contributed to making this release such a great success.”

Teyon’s growth as a studio has been very public. From the basic but interesting Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear, through Rambo: The Video Game and to the underrated Terminator: Resistance. The studio has consistently upped the quality of its output. This has resulted in RoboCop: Rogue City being the most well received licensed game in quite some time. Out of their desire to pay tribute to the franchise, the Teyon team have also included numerous references to the world RoboCop. Iconic locations, weapons and characters appear in the game, including the actor Peter Weller, who returns to duty as the face and voice RoboCop.
