Indie developer Firenut Games revealed their upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive last month. The reveal was met with a welcome response, with many wondering how long we would have to wait to see the game. Well, turns out it’s not very long at all. Firenut Games has announced the release date for Shines Over: The Damned, and it’s coming very soon indeed.
Firenut Games assure that ‘Shines Over: The Damned is a unique adventure experience’. In the game, your senses will be tested and your reality questioned. From later this month, you can immerse yourself in a mysterious and terrifying world where scares, tension, and environmental puzzles surround you, and danger lies in wait.
This isn’t a combat heavy game. In fact, you have no name and no weapons. There are no friends to protect you. You’ll venture through a twisted world with only your faithful dog by your side. They will guide you through this dark world and stay by your side.

Shines Over: The Damned uses Megascans technology to deliver its impressive visuals on PlayStation 5. Firenut Games are of course assuring this is all in aid of the dark storyline, but fans of horror will surely be more interested in the tension the game creates. And of course, the jumpscares.
The game is played in first-person, as is becoming de rigueur for many horror games. It features puzzles and secrets to unlock, but also ‘platforming elements’, according to the developer. Combining all of these elements and still making it scary will surely be a taxing challenge.
