Sonic Origins Cheat Codes: Level Select, Super Sonic & More

Sonic Origins recently launched to wide commercial success. The classic games bring a spark of nostalgia to modern gaming. Sonic himself is indeed considered one of the most popular videogame characters of all time. However, one aspect of ’90s gaming that often gets overlooked is cheat codes. But now a bunch of Sonic Origins cheat codes have been revealed to give you that extra kick.

Sonic Origins cheat codes offer a range of different cheats. Skip ahead levels using the level select, or become all-powerful with permanent Super Sonic. Three of the games in the Sonic Origins compilation – Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles – have the same cheats available in each game. However, they require different inputs to activate.

How do Sonic Origins Cheat Codes Work?

All Sonic Origins cheat codes work similarly to the original games. First, you must enter the Level Select cheat on the menu screen. Once on the level select menu, you must play sound effects from the Sound Test option in a specific order to activate additional cheats. If successful you’ll hear a sound effect, and can then use that cheat on any level you choose.

Before we dive into the Sonic Origins cheat codes themselves, there are some additional notes to consider:

Cheats work in both the Classic and Anniversary modes of each game.
Cheat codes will not disable Trophies/Achievements unlocks.
Multiple cheats can be used simultaneously.
Once you have activated Debug Mode, press the Circle button on PlayStation, A on Switch or B on Xbox to have Sonic change into an object. In this mode, you can place them anywhere you like to create your own challenges.

Sonic the Hedgehog Cheat Codes

Below are all Sonic Origins cheat codes confirmed for the original Sonic the Hedgehog:

Level Select: On the title screen, press Up, Down, Left, Right to hear a sound effect, then press any button.
All Chaos Emeralds: Activate the Level Select cheat first. Then, in the Sound Test, play 04, 01, 02, 06 in sequence. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry.
Debug Mode: Again, after activating the Level Select cheat, play the following sequence in the Sound Test: 01, 09, 09, 01, 00, 06, 02, 03. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Cheat Codes

Below are all Sonic Origins cheat codes confirmed for Sonic the Hedgehog 2:

Level Select: On the title screen, press Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right to hear a sound effect, then press any button.
Super Sonic: Once you have activated Level Select cheat, play the following sequence in the Sound Test: 04, 01, 02, 06. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry. Begin the game on any chosen level and collect 50 Rings. Next, press Triangle on PlayStation, X on Switch or Y on Xbox in mid-air to activate.
Debug Mode: Activate the Level Select cheat first. Play the following sequence in the Sound Test: 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles Cheat Codes

Below are all Sonic Origins cheat codes confirmed for Sonic 3 & Knuckles:

Level Select: On the title screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Up, Up, Up, Up. Next, on the menu screen, press Down, Down, and the Sound Test menu will appear. Within is the Level Select screen.
Super Sonic: Activate the Level Select cheat first. In the Sound Test, play the following in sequence: 04, 01, 02, 06. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry. Begin the game and collect 50 Rings, then press the jump button while in mid-air to activate.
Hyper Sonic: Once you have activated the Level Select cheat, play the following sequence in the Sound Test: 04, 01, 02, 06, 04, 01, 02, 06. This is the same code as Super Sonic, only used twice. You’ll hear two sound effects; one after the first half of the sequence and another at the end. Begin the game and collect 50 Rings, then press the jump button while in mid-air to activate.
Debug Mode: Again, after activating the Level Select cheat, play the following sequence in the Sound Test: 01, 09, 09, 04, 01, 00, 01, 08. You’ll hear a sound effect to confirm correct entry.

Sonic CD Cheat Codes

At the time of writing, no there have not yet been any Sonic Origins cheat codes discovered for Sonic CD. However, the original release of the game did feature Level Select and Debug Mode, so we expect to find these cheat codes in due course. We will update this article once they have been revealed.
