Hold onto your fins because B-movie classic Sharknado is 10 years old! And to celebrate its illustrious anniversary producers at The Asylum have created a new poster and trailer. All in preparation for the Sharknado theatrical release later this month.

As if you didn’t already know, Sharknado’s silly premise revolves around a giant tornado that sucks up Great Whites and Hammerhead sharks. Before dropping them all on an unsuspecting Los Angeles. Daft as it may sound, Sharknado was a hit when it first aired on the SyFy Channel.

Barbanado!

Starring Tara Reid, Ian Ziering and John Heard, the cast battle all these flying sharks with whatever they can find. Quite often, this involves Ziering’s trademark chainsaw slicing and dicing the airborne aquatic foe. It’s this sheer comedic lunacy that has endeared it to viewing audiences worldwide.

For its 10th anniversary, the movie has parodied the hit movie of the summer, Barbie. With a pink twist, pink convertible and a pink tornado, it is suitably B-movie lunacy!

As for the film itself, Sharknado has been fully remastered for its limited cinematic run on 15 and 16th August. With the trailer proclaiming “More Sharks, More ‘Nado”, the film is said to feature ‘new kills’ and new’ thrills’ for fans of the franchise. The special two-day event is only for those in the US, however. Check the official website for your local theatre screenings.

After its original release on the SyFy Channel, Sharknado became a cultural phenomenon. It spawned an impressive five sequels as well as a Las Vegas musical. The sixth and final entry in the series, The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time was released in 2018, with Reid and Ziering reprising their roles.
