Acclaimed Chinese RPG Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains is set for an official launch in western territories. Following the success of the action-orientated Xuan Yuan Sword 7, this new title is a more traditional RPG with a turn-based combat system.
In the game, Eastern and Western worlds will collide in an epic tale spanning Eurasia, Arabia, Francia and China. Players embark on a journey to locate the Invincible Arts of War as you take the role of Septem, a Frankish Knight unwittingly drawn into the power struggle between disparate cultures.
Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains Gameplay Details
Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains presents its narrative using mythological and historically-inspired architectural styles, garb, cuisine and customs. As stated above, the game is a traditional RPG with turn-based combat. As you recruit new characters to your party, you’ll also capture enemies in battle using the Spirit Fusion Pot. Then, craft new items and monsters from Eastern or Western altars for different resulting appearances and properties. The action is supported by 2D sprites that draw inspiration from both Eastern and Western mythologies and history. There’s a recurring theme of ‘east meets west’ throughout the game, it would seem.
This latest entry in the Xuan Yuan Sword franchise was originally developed by Softstar Entertainment Inc. The game will launch digitally on 8th December, 2023, priced at $14.99 USD/€14.99 EUR. A 10% launch discount will be available for a limited time.
The game will be available for Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe as well as the Windows Store worldwide. This new release will feature full support for English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese text.
