Swedish game developer Stunlock Studios recently announced that their hotly anticipated open-world fantasy survival game V Rising will be coming to PlayStation 5 later this year. This is good news for all survival game fans on the console. However, even better news is that the PlayStation edition of V Rising will skip Early Access, launching as the full 1.0 release.
In V Rising, you’ll have to survive as a newly awakened vampire in a world ruled by humans. Your goal? To rise through the ranks and become the next Dracula. You’ll feed on blood to gain new powers, hide from the scorching sun, and engage in real-time PvE and PvP combat set in a dark fantasy realm. But of course, it wouldn’t be a survival game without crafting. You must raise your castle as you explore a vast open world.

V Rising is currently available via Steam Early Access. The game has sold more than 3.9M copies thus far, and been met with a very positive response on Steam. The PlayStation launch marks Stunlock Studio’s first step in expanding beyond the PC space into the world of consoles. To that end, the studio has partnered with Sony, and with additional support from Auroch Digital, to optimise console gameplay. This includes UI improvements and DualSense Support.
According to Stunlock, upon V Rising‘s launch on PlayStation 5 it will feature content parity to the PC version. That is, the full 1.0 release of V Rising.
“As a lifelong gamer, playing V Rising on the PS5 has been a standout experience for me,” said Rickard Frisegård, CEO of Stunlock Studios. “This launch is a significant milestone for Stunlock Studios, as we’ve leveraged Unity technology to push boundaries and elevate our game to new heights. We’re excited for both our dedicated fans and newcomers to embark on this epic vampire journey. With the help of our partners, we’re not just launching a game; we’re setting the stage to keep on rising!”
The question remains as to when V Rising will launch on PlayStation 5. As Stunlock Studios has now committed to bringing the full 1.0 release, it will surely have to follow – or be simultaneous with – the V Rising 1.0 PC release. However, there’s currently no confirmed date for this.
