In January eastasiasoft announced that its action RPG Xuan Yuan Sword: The Gate of Firmament would be coming to PS5. Now the publisher has confirmed that a physical edition will also be made available, both in Standard and Limited Edition formats.
If you’re a fan of the Xuan Yuan Sword franchise then it’s likely you’ve already played The Gate of Firmament. Originally released in 2015, this re-release will feature plenty of enhancements. Improved loading times, higher-resolution graphics and all prior downloadable content will be included, making for a definitive edition.
The physical launch date has yet to be confirmed but pre-orders will open this week. Head to PlayAsia on Thursday, 22nd February at 10:00am ET / 7:00am PT / 3:00pm UK to secure a copy. The Limited Edition features the game disc, manual, soundtrack CD and numbered certificate in a collector’s box.

“Long ago, the Jade Emperor opened the gates of heaven so that worthy mortals could appeal to him and be granted divine powers in order to aid in the search for the emperor’s lost daughter. However, this holy gift was exploited and abused, bringing chaos to the mortal realm. The gates of heaven had to be resealed to protect from greater disaster, but since then, no mortals have been able to ascend and no gods could ascend at will to help them. Now it’s up to a small band of heroes in the mortal realm, each with their own motivations and led by the young Sikong Yu, to try and bridge the realms before peace is shattered forever.”
This isn’t the only game in the franchise that players are awaiting. Xuan Yuan Sword 7 is due for release this Spring for Nintendo Switch, having been delayed from 2023.
