Talk to any Warhammer collector about getting into the hobby and one topic that’ll always come up is price. While Games Workshop makes it generally easy to start collecting with Vanguard kits and alike, once you’re in, you’re in. Adding, new battleline, leaders and more is a big part of Warhammer’s draw, but it isn’t cheap. This week, Games Workshop has confirmed that Warhammer is getting more expensive.
New Warhammer Price Increase
So your favourite tabletop game is going to cost more. The question is, how much more? So there’s good news and bad news on that front.
GW says that: “The price changes for individual products will vary, but in most countries the average change will be between 3% and 5%. As an example of what you can expect, a squad of Necron Warriors goes up $2 from $50 to $52, £30 to £31.50, and €40 to €41 (or local currency equivalent).” So that’s not too bad. However, if you live in Sweden or Norway, the average price change will be between 8% and 14%!
These price increases will be effective from 10th June 2024 in all Warhammer stores and on Warhammer.com.
Warhammer price freezes
The good news? Not all of Games Workshop’s products are getting more expensive. Essential items like paint pots and paint sets aren’t affected. Neither is White Dwarf and Black Library products (including digital publications).
So you don’t need to suddenly go out and stock up on paint when you get paid at the end of the month.
Take advantage of Warhammer now
That does mean if you’ve been eyeing up a new model you have plenty of time to take advantage of current prices. What’s unclear is how this may affect third-party retailers.
Unless a model is exclusive to Warhammer.com or a special event – like some commemorative models are – most collectors will buy from hobby stores. Their prices tend to be around 10% cheaper than the official store, saving you big bucks in the long run. Whether we’ll see a knock-on effect is unclear at this time.
