Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the newest chapters in the Pokémon series, are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. Fans have been crying out for more details ever since their reveal. And so Chit Hot decided to put together this handy little guide to everything you need to know!
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Gameplay
According to developer Game Freak, these new titles will see the Pokémon series takes a new evolutionary step. Players will be given freedom to explore at their own pace in an open world. Though we’re yet to get hands-on, this suggests that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will play more like Pokémon Legends: Arceus than Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Various towns will blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokémon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests and on the streets. You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokémon series – battling against wild Pokémon in order to catch them – now in an open-world game.
Starter Pokémon
The three Pokémon from which you’ll be able to choose as your starter are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. You can find more details on what sorts of Pokémon they are in our handy chart below!

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Release Date
As can be seen at the end of the above trailer, the games will launch worldwide ‘late’ in 2022. No specific release date has yet been announced, but it’s likely we’ll see the games arrive in September, October or November 2022. The game will be compatible with all versions of the Nintendo Switch console – including Switch Lite and OLED models – and will be available as both boxed retail and digital download products.
