Despite unfavourable critic reviews, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been a massive success. Only released on 5th April, the film has already surpassed $1 billion USD in box office revenue. Naturally, fans already want to know about a home release, whether that’s via DVD and Blu-ray or streaming services. When it comes to the latter, Amazon pre-orders are already underway for The Super Mario Bros. Movie as the launch is expected soon.
Reports indicate that the movie will be available to stream through Amazon’s video-on-demand services from 16th May 2023. That’s only a mere seven weeks since its theatrical debut. You can pre-order the UHD version of The Super Mario Bros. Movie for $29.99 USD.

Super Mario Streaming
Amazon won’t be the only steaming solution, of course. Because the film is being distributed by Universal Pictures that means it’ll arrive on Peacock by August, as all Universal movies land on the platform within four months of a theatrical release.
For those in the UK, Peacock content can be viewed through Sky and NOW TV services.
The movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Pacific Rim) as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, Last Night in Soho) as Princess Peach and Jack Black (School of Rock, King Kong) as Bowser.
In classic Mario fashion, it melds an origin story with the Italian plumber saving the Mushroom Kingdom – and his brother Luigi – from the evil Bowser. That’s probably why the film didn’t fair too well with critics, achieving only 59% on Rotten Tomatoes. That pales in comparison to the audience score of 96%, firmly showcasing the worldwide appeal of Mario’s adventures.
