This week has seen the might of two powerful workshops combine their efforts! Games Workshop and Weta Workshop have announced a new collaboration to create a brand new range of Warhammer statues.

Currently, the only detail released so far is that Weta will create a series of 1:6 scale premium statues. No information has been released regarding which factions will make the cut. Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines are almost a given – but which ones – whilst it’s unclear if Age of Sigmar will also be included.

Warhammer And Weta Collaborate

Weta Workshop is synonymous with creating highly detailed collectable statues from some of the best TV shows and films. These include The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters, Tomb Raider, Alien, MIB, Alita: Battle Angel and many more. Considering the amount of statues Weta has created for these franchises, Warhammer should expect a decent variety of collectables to choose from.

The company was originally founded in 1987 as a special effects and prop company in New Zealand. Its work on Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy made it world renowned.

So the Warhammer franchise is certainly in safe hands. Especially as a lot of the team are collectors themselves, as seen in the announcement video below.

“Our artists are going from strength to strength, pushing their own artistic boundaries to deliver best-in-class collectables which are loved by fans all around the world,” said Kim Faiga, Head of Consumer Products at Wētā Workshop. “The new range of Warhammer collectables has got the team fizzing.”

1:6 scale premium statues won’t be designed for battles, just to look good on shelves. Although we expect some will certainly give it a go for a laugh. Which Warhammer factions do you hope Weta will create? Let us know in the comment below.
