Robert Pattinson’s The Batman was a welcome return of the Caped Crusader, giving new form to villains like The Riddler. Whilst Batman’s most infamous adversary, The Joker, made a very brief appearance at the end of the film he’s currently not rumoured to make a return in the sequel. According to new reports, The Batman 2 is rumoured to feature the infamous Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) and Clayface.
When it comes to Gotham’s District Attorney, The Hot Mic podcast co-host and insider John Rocha is reported as saying producers have narrowed Dent to two actors. The first is Black Mirror star Josh Hartnett whilst the second choice is Joel Edgerton (Uncle Lars in Obi-Wan Kenobi).

The Batman 2 Supervillains
Harvey Dent has appeared in three previous Batman films. The first was 1989’s Batman, where he was portrayed by Billy Dee Williams, but he never became Two-Face. Dent’s second appearance came during Batman Forever (1995), with the disfigured villain played by Tommy Lee Jones. Most recently, Aaron Eckhart took on the role in The Dark Knight (2008).
Currently, there’s no confirmation that Dent will become his alter ego. But Rocha notes that producers haven’t settled on whether Dent “may become Two-Face by the end of the film.”
More surprising is the addition of Clayface. One of Batman’s original foes, Clayface made his debut in 1940 for Detective Comics #40. Unlike his modern incarnation as a sort of mud monster that can shapeshift and weaponise his clay-like flesh, Clayface began very differently. He was Basil Karlo, an actor who went mad after a fall from grace, donning a mask of a horror character he had previously portrayed.
Reports indicate that Clayface will play a central role in The Batman Part II.
Even with these new rumours, The Batman 2 is slated to arrive on 3rd October 2025.
