The original Resident Evil debuted 27 years ago. That very first entry in what has become a world renown franchise featured some very campy live action footage. Now, the actor who portrayed OG Chris Redfield in these sequences, Charlie Kraslavsky, has revealed he’s set to appear in the forthcoming Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle.

At the very start of the original Resident Evil, we saw our heroes find the helicopter of another S.T.A.R.S. team, before being chased into the infamous mansion. Kraslavsky played Redfield in this sequence, thus making him the first actor to play the character. The sequence can be seen below:

Invader Studios’ upcoming Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is part of a series that was born of a love for Resident Evil. The original Daymare: 1998 began as a fan-made remake of Resident Evil 2. It garnered considerable attention, and Capcom officially invited them to their Osaka HQ in 2015 only to ask the team to cease the development of the game. Invader Studios weren’t done, however. The team decided to create an original IP, and Daymare was born.

It’s perhaps appropriate then, that Kraslavsky’s first return to videogames since that 1996 OG Chris Redfield role would be in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle.

“Thanks to the team at Invader Studios, I’m going to be in Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, the much-anticipated prequel to Daymare: 1998,” revealed Kraslavsky on Twitter. “Thank you so much to Michele [Giannone, Creative Director at Invader Studios] and the whole team at Invader. I’m very proud to be in your video game, and I look forward to seeing you again soon!”

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle will launch on 30th August, 2023. The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series and Xbox One. A demo is available on Steam.
