Ubisoft has announced that PC players will be able to enjoy Far Cry 5 free of charge this weekend. The game will kick off a free weekend on PC from 29th May, 2PM BST to 31st May, 5PM BST.

Originally released in 2018, this weekend marks the first time Ubisoft has made Far Cry 5 free to play. All players will have full access to the original base game’s content for the duration of the free weekend. This includes being able to play in co-op with any Far Cry 5 owner. New players can start pre-loading the game now via Uplay on PC.

Far Cry 5 offers freedom to navigate a twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Their arrival accelerates a long silent coup from a fanatical doomsday cult, igniting a violent takeover of the county. Under siege and cut off from the rest of the world, players will join forces with residents of Hope County and form the Resistance.

In conjunction with this free weekend there will be discounts up to 75% on all Far Cry games’ PC Standard and Gold Editions. The discounts will be available until 2nd June via Ubisoft Store. Players who purchase the game during the free weekend will see all their progress carry over into the full purchase. Visit http://farcry.com/freeweekend to register, pre-load the game and get all detailed information about the Far Cry 5 PC free weekend.

Far Cry 5 received favourable reviews at launch, currently holding a Metacritic rating of 78.

Far Cry 5 is also available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, no free weekend or price promotion has been announced for either of these editions.

If you’re looking for something else new to play this weekend we heartily recommend Maneater for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It’s not a deep (pun) experience but is certainly enjoyable throughout its comedy collectahon duration.
