Hot on the heels of gaining some traction with the understated DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing, GameMill Entertainment has announced another licensed project. The Walking Dead: Destinies allows players to relive ‘critical moments’ from the first four seasons of the TV show, and alter the timeline forever.
In a very interesting premise, these changes can entirely alter how the story plays out from that moment forward. For example, will you choose Rick or Shane to lead the group? Will you make an enemy of the Governor, or recruit him to your cause? The choice is yours.
As expected, you will begin your journey as Rick Grimes. Waking alone in a hospital surrounded by the dead, all is as it always was. However, as you assemble your allies and fight your way through the walker apocalypse, you’ll forever shape the destiny of your team of characters from the series. Heroes and villains, living and dead. It’s up to you to decide whether to stay the course of history or forge your own path through the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Be warned however, whichever decision you make has consequences.
The Walking Dead: Destinies Gameplay
From a technical standpoint, the core gameplay loop of The Walking Dead: Destinies features all the familiar assets you would expect from a third-person action game. Players will assemble a team roster from over 12 iconic characters, including Rick, Shane, Michonne, Carol, Daryl, and more. These characters can then slay hordes of walkers with a variety of melee and ranged weapons, including bats, katanas, revolvers, shotguns, and crossbows.
While doing so, you’ll have to defend your camp. Manage limited resources, scavenge for weapons and ammo, and maximise your party’s abilities to stay alive. You can also rescue survivors, to bring you new opportunities.
The Walking Dead: Destinies Release Date & Pre-Order
The Walking Dead: Destinies is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game will be priced at for £39.99 GBP. Fans of the series can pre-order the game ahead of the debut of AMC’s much-anticipated new series in The Walking Dead universe: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiering Sunday, 15th September, 2023, and The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, featuring the Rick and Michonne story, coming in 2024.
