There’s a market for lewd games on PC, of that there’s no doubt. On consoles however, things are a littler more conservative. The family friendly picture painted by Nintendo seems to slowly be fading, as more adult-orientated experiences make their way to the Nintendo Switch. Dreamcutter is most certainly that, now confirmed to launch on the console later this year.
In Dreamcutter, a mysterious sentient scythe with an ulterior motive, promises alluring rewards and a chance at escape. But what strange dangers and exotic encounters will you find inside your own mind? Along with your friend Lucia, you’ll take the role of Haley as the pair navigate the darkest parts of Haley’s subconscious.
According to publisher eastasiasoft, Dreamcutter is an intense side-scrolling action platformer that blends ‘visual novel CG scenes’ with macabre themes and sassy character dialogue. However, the Steam listing for the game features the following description of the game:
Dreamcutter contains the following content:
-Risque outfits, sexual comments and adult situations
-Nudity (Full Frontal, suggesting and partial)
-Sex Scenes (consensual sex, public nudity, toys)
-All characters in Dreamcutter are 18+ and over
Suspicions that this is more than your average platformer grow.

Dreamcutter Gameplay
As far as the core gameplay loop goes, players will use the Dream Combo to rack up points and collect coins to buy upgrades. You can reach higher platforms by sticking your scythe in walls, swing, grind, float and more. As you continue your journey and upgrade the scythe, you’ll encounter numerous unique bosses and greater challenges.
The game has been well received on Steam, no doubt contributing to eastasiasoft’s announcement of a Nintendo Switch port of the game. Whether or not it can find an audience on the more conservative console platform remains to be seen, however.
