Catan is a legendary board game that’s been entertaining players for over 25 years. Over the years there have been various digital adaptions for PC and even VR! The next version, Catan – Console Edition by Dovetail Games is set to hit Nintendo Switch next week. And for those eager to grab a copy, pre-orders have now opened.
Three versions of Catan – Console Edition will be made available. The Standard (£16.99 GBP/$19.99 USD/€19.99 EUR), Deluxe (£19.99/$24.99/€24.99), and Super Deluxe (£24.99/$29.99/€29.99). However, only the Super Deluxe version can be pre-ordered now.
In addition to the base game, Super Deluxe also includes five championship maps and The Helpers: the first official expansion. The weeklong pre-order offer also comes with a 10% discount.
Catan – Console Edition
Just like the board game, Dovetail Games’ latest edition contains the core trade, build and settle mechanics everyone knows and loves. With a board made up of hexagonal pieces, players find a world populated with characters farming and mining resources. There are roaming sheep and robbers as well as bustling cities and harbours to trade with.
Success is gained by earning Victory Points These can be collected in various ways including building the ‘Longest Road’ or amassing the ‘Largest Army’. Building cities and settlements also earn Victory Points, as well as through the tactical use of Development Cards.
If you do pick up the Super Deluxe edition, The Helpers expansion adds an additional layer of strategy. By introducing 12 characters known as Helpers, players can use their own unique and specialised skills to gain the upper hand.
CATAN – Console Edition arrives on 9th November supporting Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Series X & S, and PlayStation 4 & 5.
