The ginger, lasagne-loving cat Garfield has been around for over 40 years. Appearing across almost every entertainment media going, he’s returning to the big screen once again in 2024. While Bill Murry wants to forget his tenure as Garfield, this time around it’s Chris Pratt (The Super Mario Bros. Movie) lending his voice. And here’s the new trailer for The Garfield Movie to prove it.
As you’ll see in the new trailer, we get a look at Garfield’s history and where he came from. From a super cute (and fluffy) kitten who adopts owner Jon Arbuckle, and his love of pizza to his dad, a scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson).
Garfield returns
“Garfield, the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist,” explains the official synopsis.
Directed by Mark Dindal, The Garfield Movie also stars Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein and Bowen Yang.
Originally created by Jim Davis, he sold the rights to Alcon Entertainment. He helped executive produce the movie with DNEG Animation handling all the animation.
The Garfield Movie is scheduled to hit theatres on 24th May 2024, you can see the new trailer below. This won’t be his most recent outing though. Garfield just so happens to be on the character roster for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.
