The launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is upon us. The game has already received significant critical acclaim and expectations are high for the game commercially. Many fans of the first part of the proposed remake trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, may be wondering how to transfer their save data to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Below we’ll detail exactly how to copy save data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Rebirth, and what you get for doing so.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is being launched as a ‘standalone’ title. What that means you don’t have to have played Final Fantasy 7 Remake to enjoy this sequel. In fact, a video detailing the story so far is included with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. So even if you’re somehow unaware of the mammoth gaming franchise that is the Final Fantasy 7 series, you’ll be able to get up to speed pretty quickly.

However, for those of us who did enjoy the first title, here’s how to copy your save data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Rebirth for some nice rewards.

How to Copy Save Data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Rebirth

As stated above, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a standalone title. This means that your saved progress from Final Fantasy 7 Remake does not carry over into Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. You’ll have gained no levels, experience or items for copying your save date from Final Fantasy 7 Remake to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

However, there are a number of bonuses available to those who have played either edition of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Furthermore, anyone who played the recent Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo can unlock some bonuses, too!

The process for each of the three bonuses is slightly different. Each has been detailed below.

Save Data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake

If you’ve played Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you can unlock the Leviathan Summon Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The process isn’t complicated, but there are a couple of things to note:

  • At the start of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you can scan your PlayStation 5 for save files.
  • Navigate to System > DLC/Bonus from the main menu.
  • Select your eligible rewards to redeem them.
  • Activate these bonuses in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s main menu.

It’s worth noting that you don’t need to have made any significant progress in Final Fantasy 7 Remake to unlock the Leviathan Summon Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. You simply need to have a save file stored locally on your PlayStation 5 console.

Save Data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake INTERmission/Intergrade

The second bonus is the Ramuh Summon Materia. For this, you’ll need to have played both Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the INTERmission DLC. This can be through either the PlayStation 5’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade or the DLC itself. The process is the same as above:

  • Scan your PlayStation 5 for save files.
  • Navigate to System > DLC/Bonus from the main menu.
  • Select your eligible rewards to redeem them.
  • Activate these bonuses in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s main menu.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Bonuses

If you’ve played the first part of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo, you can also redeem the Kupo Charm and Survival Set. Both are slightly less exciting, but worth having nonetheless.

The Kupo Charm increases how many crafting materials you can source, while the Survival Set includes some extra potions and ethers.
