Lateralis Heavy Industries have today launched their Hotline Miami-esque top-down shooter OTXO. Available now for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, OTXO debuted on PC back in April, 2023.
Following its release on PC, OTXO received a very positive response. Published by Super Rare Games, the game has been commended for following in the footsteps of Hotline Miami, but offering it’s own unique twists on the formula.
Playing as a nameless protagonist, you descend into a dark and mysterious mansion. You quest? To rescue your lost love. You’ll find yourself mercilessly blasting through hordes of enemies, mastering powerful weapons and upgrading their loadout with roguelike progression. As the walls are stained red throughout the mansion, you’ll unveil hidden secrets, and maybe even your own forgotten past.
OTXO offers a massive variety of weapons, over 100 abilities to unlock, a unique slow-motion Focus mechanic, and a mansion that changes every time you restart a run. Each murderous rampage through OTXO is different.
OTXO Console Launch Trailer
OTXO will take the player through eight areas. Each with a randomly laid out selection of rooms out of the over 150 hand-crafted rooms built in the game. No two runs of the game will be the same. As you progress, you’ll develop a setup that’ll help you break the cycle. A whole selection of unlockable weapons and over 100 acquirable abilities are available from the game’s enigmatic bartender.
The slow-mo mechanic, Focus, is designed to make the player feel powerful and in control. However, be warned, the variety of enemy types thrown in your way can quickly turn the tides of the combat if you don’t adapt accordingly.
As stated above, OTXO launched for PC last year. From today, the game is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch priced at $14.99 USD / €14.99 EUR / £11.99 GBP. Are you planning a gory revenge mission this weekend? Let us know in the comments below!
