Dead or Alive is a hugely popular beat-’em-up series that’s spawned a franchise. This includes several spin-off titles and even a questionable movie starring Holly Valance. The characters from the game – most notably the females – have become so popular that many of them are celebrated across the globe. Today is Marie Rose’s turn, as 6th June is her birthday.
There are games from the series on many of the modern platforms. However publisher Koei Tecmo has opted to celebrate in the PC game Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation. This is a free-to-play version of the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch game, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3.
Dead or Alive – Marie Rose’s Birthday
To celebrate Marie Rose’s birthday PC gamers can participate in a new event. This event is – unsurprisingly for a free-to-play game – centred around microtransactions. Players can unlock a new birthday costume and more for Marie Rose, but only through a randomised ‘loot box’ style system.
Here’s a trailer for the event:
Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation is very limited in its release, and thus not available in many countries. However, there is an English language version available. Those who are so inclined will be able to find one of many workarounds to get hold of the game.
What else are Koei Tecmo doing?
For the rest of us, Dead or Alive 6 is the latest incarnation of the bloodline series. A fighting game that has unfairly been overlooked on the current generation consoles.
Outside of this hugely popular series it’s not yet known what Koei Tecmo are working on for the next generation of consoles. It’s highly likely that we’ll see new Dynasty Warriors titles of course, and possibly even a return of Ninja Gaiden. The latter of which is long overdue.
In other free-to-play gaming news, there’s a major event coming for Forntnite fans. Be sure to check out the details!
