Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has now arrived in cinemas but it seems as though one cast member from the previous outing hasn’t returned. Pop star and actor Miley Cyrus very briefly featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s post-credit scene as Ravager team member Mainframe. But in this latest outing, she’s been replaced by a familiar face.

Whilst many would’ve thought that Cyrus’ appearance in the post-credit scene may have led to a bigger part in Vol.3, that hasn’t been the case. Mainframe did only appear as a disembodied head, so you didn’t actually see Cyrus. In the comics, the character is an original member of the Guardians of the Galaxy team and a powerful one at that.

So rather than Cyrus, the Marvel team has chosen another actor very familiar with the MCU, Tara Strong. She’s best known for her role in Loki, playing Miss Minutes. She was the cartoon clock who happened to be the Time Variance Authority’s (TVA) record keeper and guide. Strong has numerous voiceover credits to her name including The Fairly OddParents as Timmy Turner.

Currently, it’s unclear quite why Miley Cyrus’ Guardian of the Galaxy tenure came to an end. As Collider reports, in a previous interview director Jame Gunn spoke highly of her: “I was admiring the tone of Miley Cyrus’s voice. I find her funny and likeable and sweet… So I was like, I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice [in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2]. So we contacted her, and she said yes. She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with.”
