The Flash has now made it into theatres and director Andy Muschietti has already been confirmed for his next feature. He’ll be helming another live-action DC Studios film in the form of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Batman: The Brave and the Bold was part of a tranche of projects revealed by James Gunn and Peter Safran as part of the new DC Universe. As reported by Variety, the project is yet to find a screenwriter but the narrative is already stencilled out. Based on Grant Morrison’s comic series, the film will revolve around an extended Bat-Family. Bruce Wayne’s biological son Damian follows in his dad’s footsteps as Robin.

Joining Muschietti on the film will be his sister Barbara who will produce the project via their label Double Dream.
Explaining why they wanted Muschietti to direct Gunn and Safran told Variety: “We saw The Flash; even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan. It’s a magnificent film – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame.
“So, when it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold, there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes. Barbara signed on to produce with us and we were on our way. They’re an extraordinary team, and we couldn’t have better or more inspiring partners as we embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU.”
As the DC Studios executives revealed earlier in the year, Batman: The Brave and the Bold will form part of the company’s new connected DC Universe. Whereas Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 with its rumoured Clayface appearance as well as Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux fall under the “DC Elseworlds” brand, separate from the connected universe.
At present, DC Studios has yet to specify a release timeline for Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
