Revealed earlier this year, Hellboy Web of Wyrd is a third-person beat-’em-up with elements from roguelike games. The game appears to be an interesting prospect, and we were expecting to find out later this week. However, publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment has announced a last minute delay to the game.
Hellboy Web of Wyrd places players in the shoes of Big Red himself, voiced by Lance Reddick. When an agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) goes missing investigating the Butterfly House and psychic spikes are discovered across the globe, the world’s foremost cambion hunter of the supernatural – Hellboy – is called in. He is sent across the strange realm of the Wyrd to find this missing colleague.
Of course, along the way he’ll be battling massive monsters across the Wyrd. Players can use Hellboy’s toughness to execute devastating chains of melee and ranged attacks. As they do, they’ll be building their power into something that rivals the fiercest warriors of Hell.
The Hellboy franchise has never had a good time in videogames. 2008’s Hellboy: The Science of Evil was middling at best, and the less said about Hellboy: Asylum Seeker the better. However, hopes are high that a change is coming. Upstream Arcade’s Hellboy Web of Wyrd is certainly looking interesting.
Hellboy Wed of Wyrd Release Date
The game was originally scheduled for launch this week, on 4th October, 2023. However, publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment has announced that the game will now be launching on 18th October. No reason for the delay was offered, except the following statement:
“Developer Upstream Arcade is still hard at work ensuring that all players – longtime fans and newcomers to the Hellboy universe alike – receive the best experience possible.”
Hellboy Web of Wyrd is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Are you hopeful for some innovative Hellboy action? Let us know in the comments below!
