Over the summer the first Napoleon trailer for director Ridley Scott’s latest historical production. Due for release in November, the film stars Oscar-winner Joaquin Phoenix in the central role of French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. As Napoleon trailer #2 highlights, the film is going to be a brutal drama following this iconic leader’s rise and fall.
Like Scott’s previous projects – Gladiator for example – Napoleon will be filled with epic battle scenes charting his rise to emperor. This can be seen at the very beginning of the trailer as he unleashes a deadly trap upon an enemy force. But while the battles will fill a central role, there’s plenty of drama going on behind the scenes. All set against the backdrop of the French Revolution.
Napoleon Trailer #2
An infamous leader and tyrant, the film captures Bonaparte’s relentless journey to power. All viewed through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, the adulterous Empress Josephine – played by Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman). As is well documented, he may have gained enormous power and notoriety but Napoleon lost it all in dramatic fashion.
The supporting cast includes Ben Miles (Andor), Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon), Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian), Ludivine Sagnier (Lupin), Youssef Kerkour (House of Gucci) and Phil Cornwell (Alan Partridge).
Directed by Scott and written by David Scarpa (The Last Castle), Napoleon is produced by Ridley Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Mark Huffam and Joaquin Phoenix.
Produced in collaboration with Apple, Napoleon will arrive in theatres on 22nd November 2023. It will be available to stream via Apple TV+ at a later date. Theatre-goers will be able to enjoy the film in Premium Large Formats, Screen X, 70mm and IMAX.
