Fury Studios, the development arm of publisher Raw Fury revealed in 2022 that the micro-strategy series Kingdom Eighties would be coming to PC. Recently, the team confirmed that PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch would also get their own editions.

Showcasing a new gameplay teaser at the MIX Direct Spring 2023 Online Showcase, Kingdom Eighties heads into an urban sprawl for the first time. The game is described as: “a love letter to the nostalgic days of summer camps, riding bikes and sitting around in your pyjamas on a Saturday morning in front of the TV.”

Kingdom Eighties nostalgia

You take on the role of a young camp counsellor referred to as The Leader. With a band of neighbourhood kids to help, you must protect the town from the mysterious Greed. Along the way, you’ll also encounter allies including The Champ, the Tinkerer, and the Wiz, each with their own set of battle skills.

Offering some classic side-scrolling action with everyone on bikes, the visual style evokes the 8 and 16-Bit eras. Builds on the series’ well-known mechanics, this sequel’s narrative will also uncover the secrets of your family lineage. As well as the Greed and the Crown of Creation.

You’ll be able to put those recruited neighbourhood kids to work, assigning them roles as builders or soldiers to help expand your territory. Plus there will be plenty of exciting locations to explore. Visit the shops on Main Street, grab fresh wheels at the skateboard park and head to the New Lands Mall.

Kingdom Eighties is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch later this year. Raw Fury is the same publisher behind Call of the Sea and Cassette Beasts.
