Rewind Games has today launched their debut title, Tanuki Sunset, on Nintendo Switch. Tanuki Sunset has already seen release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, where it was met with a significantly positive response. The Nintendo Switch release marks a significant milestone for the studio, bringing their unique skateboarding adventure to a wider audience.

Tanuki Sunset is an immersive skateboarding game that has captured the hearts of players with its charming narrative, engaging gameplay, and distinctive aesthetic. The game has been deemed ‘visually delightful’ by its creators, and looking at the screenshots taken from the game it’s easy to see why. What’s not to love about a neon soaked skateboarding raccoon?

Tanuki Sunset is a Game about Having a Dream

Set in a vibrant world, players guide a skateboarding raccoon named Tanuki as he embarks on an epic sunset ride through diverse landscapes. Living on the quiet and picturesque Sunset Island, Tanuki has a lifelong dream. He wants to become so good at longboarding that he makes it onto the cover of FISH magazine.

As the player, it’s your job to help him. You’ll master the longboard as you drift through stunning mountain ranges, swerve through bustling city streets, and board along the sandy beaches of Sunset Island. Help Tanuki train to perform epic tricks, from jumping off ramps to longboarding backwards.

This isn’t Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, however. You’ll need to do all of this while avoiding cars, trucks, and unexpectedly sharp corners. Heaven is a halfpipe, an’ all that.

What’s more, you’ve got to get some grub along the way. Raccoons are commonly known as ‘trash pandas’, after all. Collect Tanuki Bits as you skate to keep Tanuki fed and to upgrade your gear at Bob’s Skate Shop. If Tanuki’s going to be on the cover of FISH, they need some cool threads for the occasion.
