Drop Dead Studios’ Railbreak launched last month, and has been well received by arcade gaming fans. However, for gamers still undecided the studio has launched a Railbreak demo version. You can jump into the action immediately with no upfront payment – but there is a catch.

Players have been kicking zombie behind in on-rails arcade shooter Railbreak for around a month now, and the reviews have been positive and ratings across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. In fact, Railbreak is Dead Drop Studios’ best-reviewed game ever. I bet they’re pleased.

Since its launch, Railbreak has been updated on all platforms with fixes and extra features. New additions include character voice volume controls, in-game filter overrides, optional wait time to make collecting items easier, performance improvements, and more. Drop Dead Studios assure that more free content is coming soon, including a new mode and a new playable character.

“Now that Railbreak is in the hands of eager players everywhere, we can focus on preparing even more content for them to enjoy,” says Julia Wolbach, co-founder of Dead Drop Studios. “Railbreak’s gratifying arcade gameplay is only set to get even crazier in the coming months!”

Furthemore, Steam Deck owners are in for a treat. Drop Dead Studios’ control template and video settings have been designed to provide an optimal Steam Deck experience. Players can use the touch screen to mow down enemies with the tap of a finger.

Those who are yet to relish Railbreak’s high-octane fun can download a free game trial to whet their appetites. This trial is available now, so players can enjoy a sampling of the full, content-rich game. Want to challenge the Boss Rush mode right away? Prefer to take a dip into Railbreak’s rogue-like Glitch Gauntlet mode? Impatient to preview the game’s cheesy and hilarious Story? Download the Railbreak demo and see what all the fuss is about. The catch however? The Railbreak demo is only available on Xbox Series X|S at present.

Railbreak is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and on PC. Developer Drop Dead Studios is most famous for the Outbreak series. The studio’s next title, Outbreak: Shades of Horror, is currently being built in Unreal Engine 5 and is set to launch in 2025.
