Fatshark have launched their first Warhammer: Vermintide 2 closed alpha test for the new 4v4vE game mode. The test will be live from today until 11th February, 2024, and will host 10,000 players.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Versus is an asymmetric 4v4 ‘PvP+E’ game mode. It pits the Ubersreik Five against AI enemies and up to four player-controlled Skaven specials. Teams switch sides, competing for points over multiple sections and rounds. The Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Versus closed alpha test allows players their first chance to to experience the new game mode.

“One of the things we’ve learned through our years of development is that our players deeply love and care for this game, and we want to learn from them and their feedback during this testing period,” said Erik Ekström, Product Owner on Warhammer: Vermintide 2. “We’re aiming to take a co-creation approach with our players, analyze their feedback, and take that into our development process as lessons learned.”

“The Versus game mode is definitely something that players familiar with the genre will recognize,” said Joakim Setterberg, Design Director for Warhammer Vermintide 2. “We want to honor our predecessor in this space while adding our own unique melee-oriented flair to it that most of our players recognize us for.”

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has proven an incredibly popular adaptation of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. So much so, that its easily outclassed Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Realms of Ruin commercially. Which is a shame, as despite its financial floundering, Realms of Ruin is a very good game by all accounts.

Fatshark have been supporting Warhammer: Vermintide 2 with regular content updates since its launch back in 2018. The most recent of which brought new horrors to the game.

As stated above, the Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Versus closed alpha test runs from today until 11th February. Are you a fan of Warhammer: Vermintide 2? Are you excited for this brand new game mode? Let us know in the comments below!
