The Evil One Reappears in our White Eyes

RedDeer.Games announced The Evil One – The Man with the White Eyes back in 2022. The game was revealed for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with Unreal Engine 5 namechecked as the development platform. However, since that initial announcement we’ve heard very little about the game. That’s all changed today, as the developer has confirmed that The Evil One games are still in development. And what’s more, they’ve received additional funding to make an even bigger game.

What is The Evil One?

The Evil One – The Man with the White Eyes is based on a novel by Leopold Tyrmand. Originally released as The Man With White Eyes, this is a story of crime and romance. The protagonist fights organised crime anonymously in Warsaw to defend the weak.

Published in 1955, The Man With White Eyes broke with the socialist realism in Poland by showing that under an officially promoted image of Warsaw, a world of crime existed untouched by an inefficient police. The book was Tyrmand’s biggest success, and one of the most successful novels in Poland in the 1950s. Later it became also an international hit, and was translated into more than 20 European languages.

Developed by RedDeer.Games, the games will focus on the fate of Warsaw healing its post-war wounds. And within, the story of its self-proclaimed dark hero whom they call ‘The Evil One’. That’s right, we said games.

In addition to the originally announced title, RedDeer.Games will be developing Stories from the Warcity. This will be an action-adventure game prototype with an isometric view, also based on The Evil One.

On the dark streets of the city, players will meet non-schematic characters, immerse themselves in a complex multi-threaded story, and decide whether they will be the hero of the city or someone completely opposite. Players will deep dive into solving criminal puzzles, and traverse the ruined streets of the city, which once again in its history is awakening to life.

RedDeer.Games’ Funding The Evil One – The Man with White Eyes Announcement

This second title has been made possible by a grant of 280,000 PLN, financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. No platforms or release date have yet been announced.
