The upcoming release of Beetlejuice 2now officially known as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – has many fans of the classic 1998 original excited. And for good reason. Tim Burton’s back to direct, many of the original cast are returning, and now with the newest Beetlejuice 2 trailer, we see just how close to the original it looks set to be.

Beetlejuice 2 becomes Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Here at Chit Hot, we’ve been reporting on Beetlejuice 2 for over a year. The upcoming film was officially revealed at CinemaCon 2023. In that time there’s been many reports and rumours, and a teaser trailer. But now, with the official Beetlejuice 2 trailer revealed, you learn just how close to the original Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be.

Fans of the original will notice numerous callbacks within the 2:19 runtime of the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice trailer. First, we see much of the original cast returning (alongside Jenna Ortega) in a pan across a funeral. Believed to be held for Charles Deetz, the father of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz, we have to ask is he dead dead, or just dead? Given the subject matter, it’s highly possible Charles could return at some point in the film.

After this intro, it’s a hot step parade of creepy statues, model towns, glowing signs, sand worms and shrunken heads. And people saying the exact thing they’ve been told not to say. Yes, it’s very close to the original. Hopefully, there aren’t too many repeated gags in the final theatrical release.
