Robert Pattinson is next inline to don the famous cowl in The Batman. He has revealed that it was in fact on the first day of filming Tenet with Christopher Nolan that he heard about his selection for the role.

Pattinson rose to fame with his starring role in The Twilight Saga. Playing shiny vampire Edward Cullen, it’s a role he’s not entirely proud of. When asked about his upcoming superhero debut Pattinson said he was told about his successful screentest: “The morning of the first day.”

According to MSN Entertainment, he said, “It was kind of insane. It was a very, very intense weekend. That was a crazy way to start Chris’s film. I think I was doing the screen test, as well, on the Saturday before I started.”

Pattinson also spoke about production for The Batman being put on hold due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic:

“We’d really gotten into a really good rhythm as well, so it’s kind of strange to be pausing,” he said. “But, again, it’s a hard movie. I mean, obviously it’s Batman, so it’s kind of nice. I basically went straight from [Tenet] into that. And, yeah, I was feeling a little bit loopy anyway.

“So having some time off is not the worst thing in the world. But hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later that everything is hopefully in a better place.”

Pattinson is set to appear in Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet which is currently expected to arrive in US and UK cinemas next month. Nolan himself has of course had his own experience with the caped crusader, directing the Dark Knight trilogy.

The Batman has a release date of 1st October 2021. There’s been no word on whether or not the delay in filming will cause the release date to be pushed back. As of now, we’re yet to see any official imagery or trailers for The Batman.
