Developer Torn Banner Studios has announced that Chivalry 2 will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. These next-generation releases will follow the game’s debut on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first-person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles. Players are thrust into the action of every iconic moment of the era; from clashing swords, to storms of flaming arrows, sprawling castle sieges and more. Players will dominate massive battlefields while catapults tear the earth apart as they lay siege to castles, set fire to villages, and slaughter filthy peasants in the return of Team Objective maps.
Building on the original genre-defining Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Chivalry 2 invites players to master the blade with an all-new combat system that combines real-time strikes and a free-flowing combo system to speed up the action. Created with the ability to fight multiple foes in mind, Chivalry 2’s combat mixes the best of both FPS and fighting game genres for a new melee experience.
“The epic medieval battles in Chivalry 2 deserve an equally massive player-base,”
“We can’t wait for gamers across the world on all five platforms to clash steel and experience the greatest melee combat system ever, together.”Steve Piggott, President, Torn Banner Studios
Players of Chivalry 2 will be able to design their own hero. A detailed customisation system adds huge variety: head type, skin tone, head & facial hair + colors, facial imperfections, face paint, nicknames, heraldry, helmets, armor, weapons, and more for millions of possible combinations.
Then, once you take your personalised hero onto the battlefield you can enhance him/her with your own fighting style. Four base classes expand to various subclasses. An arsenal of unique weapons each with multiple visual variants will be available, and new support items ranging from oil pots to barricades, supply crates and archer’s stakes.
Should your hero fail you, you’ll be able to amp up the aggressiveness. Keep fighting after losing a limb, being knocked down, disarmed, set on fire, filled with arrows, your shield broken, smothered in blood and still throwing punches from your knees. Bandages, revives and the new downed state allow you to support teammates and stay in the action until you’ve bled your last drop.
“Seeing Torn Banner’s Chivalry 2 shaping up to be an incredible sequel that is a generational leap for the first person slasher genre we knew it was something players on many platforms would love,”
“Today, we’re extremely happy to announce that the next great Chivalry experience will be available on consoles and feature crossplay enabling players everywhere to hack and slash together!”John Gibson, CEO, Tripwire Interactive
Tripwire Presents, the team behind the recently released Maneater, and retail co-publishing partner Deep Silver will be bringing Chivalry 2 to multiple formats both digitally and at retail. The game will offer cross-play compatibility between PC and consoles.
