Ubisoft will offer the hugely popular Assassin’s Creed Origins for free this weekend. PC gamers can pre-load the game now, and begin playing later today until 21st June 2020.

Set in Ancient Egypt, Assassin’s Creed Origins takes place during a mysterious and crucial period that shapes civilization. Playing as Bayek, protector of Egypt and one of the first Assassins, players will plunge into a living, systemic open world and discover secrets behind the Great Pyramids, forgotten myths, the last pharaohs and – engraved in long-lost hieroglyphics – the origin story of the Assassin’s Brotherhood.

Players will have access to the full main game content throughout the free weekend. Much like the previous free weekend promotion from Ubisoft, Far Cry 5, any progression made during the free weekend will carry over if the player upgrades to the full game on the same platform.

After downloading an online connection may still be required to start the game as a free player. Furthermore, players will be required to subscribe on Uplay to access the free weekend trial.

The free weekend starts today, 19th June, 2pm UK time and ends on 21st June, 9pm UK time. For more information check out the official Assassin’s Creed website.

The next Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, takes a very different turn. Set in 873 AD, the game recounts an alternative history to the Viking invasion of Britain. In this next instalment, players will become legendary Viking Raider Eivor. On a quest for glory, Eivor will explore England’s dark ages. Raid your enemies, grow your settlement, and build your political power.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release late in 2020 as a launch title for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Google Stadia editions have also been confirmed, however Nintendo Switch players are currently left out in the cold.
