GoldenEye 007 is back! Having become an instant classic upon its debut in 1997, many gamers across the globe have been keen to welcome its return for 25 years. Now, gamers on Xbox Game Pass, Nintendo Switch Online or owners of Rare Replay can jump back into the action. However, for those who can’t remember how to tackle the many objectives of the single-player missions, we’ve prepared a GoldenEye 007 Walkthrough Guide: Dam! This article will cover everything you need to know to complete the first level, Dam, on Agent, Secret Agent and 00 Agent difficulties.
Even on Secret Agent difficulty, Dam is a pretty easy level. Agents will simply have to get to the Bungee jumping platform to complete the level. You don’t need to go into the sewer unless you’re on 00 Agent.

A. Neutralize all alarms (Secret Agent)
B. Install covert modem (00 Agent)
C. Intercept data backup (00 Agent)
D. Bungee jump from platform
GoldenEye 007 Walkthrough Guide: Dam
We begin the level in a little corner. Carefully lean out and look around the corner, and take out the first guard. Walk across the bridge until you get to a guard tower. Shot the guard that’s standing against the wall. A guard will come out of the tower. Shoot him before he shoots you, and run up into the tower.
In the guard tower you’ll find a conveniently placed a sniper rifle. Take it and go to the side of the guard tower that faces the tunnel. You should see two guards standing around. Zoom in with the sniper rifle so that you can get a good head shot on one of them. The other guard should come running, but you can
snipe him easily enough.
Walk out of the guard tower and start walking through the tunnel. You’ll come to another big area and enemies will immediately start firing. Head for the guard tower on the right, being sure to take out the guard near it.
Run up the guard tower and get your sniper rifle out. Aim for the stone fort on the right. If you zoom in all the way, you’ll see two more soldiers in there. Take them out, and look to the big stack of wooden boxes right next to the fort. Shoot the boxes, (they all should blow up) listen for a guard to yell out.
Head to the big gate. There will be a button on the side of the gate to open it, so press it and run in. There’s another gate, so open that one then run out into the next area.
Once through, zoom in with your sniper rifle and look to the left. There’s a soldier running to the alarm! Shoot him before he gets the chance to press it. Don’t forget to also shoot the alarm that he was going to push.
Once the soldier is gone, run up to the next guard tower. Take out any enemies that you see with your KF7 Soviet as you don’t need to be silent anymore.
Run up to the brown gate. Open it and you’ll find a guard and a guy with a Dostovei. Now go out the door to the other side of the gate, and you should see some wooden boxes on the right. If you’re playing on 00 Agent, you should walk behind them to find a computer screen. Pull out your covert modem and throw it on to the screen (Objective B: completed).
Next is the gate to the Dam. Shoot the lock, open the gate, and run on to the Dam.
Playing on Agent difficulty requires you to simply run across the Dam until you reach a little stairway. Climb it and approach the edge to complete the level.
GoldenEye 007 Walkthrough Guide: Dam – Secret Agent Difficulty
When playing on Secret Agent or 00 Agent, run up to the first building on the Dam, open the door and shoot the second alarm. Then, climb the ladder and grab your sniper rilfe. Aim across the Dam to the second guard tower. You should see a soldier on patrol. Zoom in and go for that headshot. If you miss it’s not a big deal, he’ll simply come running towards you giving you more time to aim.
Once he’s dispatched, run up to the second guard tower and do the same you just did (shoot alarm, pick off the next guard) and then run down to the next tower to get the final alarm (Objective A: Completed).
Now, all Secret Agents should run back to the bungee platform and jump off to complete the mission.
GoldenEye 007 Walkthrough Guide: Dam – 00 Agent Difficulty
If you’ve followed all the above, it’s time to complete the additional objectives on 00 Agent difficulty. With the KF7 Soviet in hand, run all the way back to the first guard tower on the dam. Open the door and head down the stairs.
You are now in the sewer. Look through the gate, and you should see a guard. Shoot him, and a few more
should come. Open the gate and enter.
Now, take a left. There will be a number of guards here, so use caution and snipe them at long range. Note that there are often soldiers hiding in corners as you enter new rooms, so be aware of your surroundings.
After a long trek through the sewer, you’ll reach a mysterious door. Inside is a computer room. There are a few guards in here, so enter with caution.
Go up to the terminal and press B. The Covert Modem will start to do it’s thing, (Objective C: Completed) and you can run back through the sewer to the Dam. As above, find the small staircase, head to the edge and complete the level.
