The Netflix UK price is set to change for 2021. While the increase is slight, given the initial low cost of the subscription it could be considered a significant jump. Furthermore, the increase is imminent, so if you plan to leave the service before the price hike you’d better get onto it immediately.

The platform has revealed a number of changes to each membership plan options. This includes the increase of its standard monthly package from £8.99 to £9.99. This package allows HD streaming on two devices at the same time.
The premium package will increase from £11.99 to £13.99. This package allows streaming on up to four screens at the same time. Additionally, this is the only package that allows for streaming in 4K.
The only package which will not change in price is the basic plan. This allows members to stream on one device at a time in Standard Definition. The price of this package stays the same at £5.99.
A statement was released by the streaming giant where they explained the reasoning behind the price increase:
“This year we’re spending over $1bn (£736m) in the UK on new, locally made films, series and documentaries, helping to create thousands of jobs and showcasing British storytelling at its best. Our price change reflects the significant investments we’ve made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product.”

The platform has undoubtedly seen success due to the ongoing global pandemic. Almost 16 million new customers were added worldwide in the first three months of 2020 alone. Some of the most celebrated shows, including The Crown, Rick and Morty and new hit show Bridgerton are available exclusively on the platform. Bridgerton set a new record for the platform having been streamed in 63 million households after four weeks on the service.
The Netflix UK price changes come into effect in February 2021. Any members who do want to pay the new monthly amount can change to a different plan at any time, or alternatively cancel their subscription for free.
