Currently, Marvel Studios is working on a new Fantastic Four movie – and has been for some time. Slated for a 2025 release, there’s been no confirmation as to who will be starring in the movie. Only one name has been mentioned so far, and that’s Hollywood favourite Pedro Pascal.

He’s reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios regarding the role of Reed Richards, The Hollywood Reporter writes. However, due to the actor’s popularity, a deal will likely only be struck if Pascal can find time in his schedule.

It’s been hard to miss the actor over the past couple of years. He leads breakout HBO series The Last of Us, with a second season planned. You can also see him in Disney’s The Mandalorian, DC’s Wonder Woman 1984Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent alongside Nicolas Cage. Furthermore, Pascal is due to return to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2.

John Krasinski Doctor Strange Cameo

Fantastic Four curse

While it would certainly be a boon for Marvel to have Pascal in the role of Richards, the franchise hasn’t exactly been a box-office success.

Ioan Gruffudd helmed the role of Mr Fantastic during the early 2000s, in both Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. These films were alright but it was 2015’s The Fantastic Four that really soured the franchise. Miles Teller took the helm that time around and likely wants to forget it.

John Krasinski (The Office, A Quiet Place) also took a very brief stab at the character. He played a version of Richards in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

As for the new film, there’s still no word on who will play The Invisible Woman, The Thing and The Human Torch. It’s being directed by Wandavision’s Matt Shakman and has a 2nd May 2025 release date.

Looking forward to the reboot? Or think it’ll be a dud? Let us know in the comments.
