A local report from Australia claims that Matt Damon has arrived in the country to join Chris Hemsworth in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The original schedule for the filming of Thor: Love and Thunder, like most MCU Phase 4 movies, has been delayed. Expected to begin sometime this month, actors have arrived in the country in preparation for production. These include Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt and Tessa Thompson.
Originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, only three actors had previously been confirmed for Thor: Love & Thunder. These were Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman, who will reprise Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane Foster, respectively. Continued delays have given rise to the chance of leaks however, particularly with regard to Thor: Love and Thunder‘s cast.
As reported by local news outlet News.com.au, Matt Damon has supposedly landed in Australia to film Thor: Love & Thunder. He arrived with the rest of his family in Sydney via a private jet. He is currently in a private facility under quarantine as mandated by the country’s laws to stop the spread of coronavirus. The article says that his role is still unknown, but it’s worth noting that the actor has played a random Asgardian in Thor: Ragnarok.
Matt Damon was among the surprise actors to cameo at the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok. He played an Asgardian portraying Loki during the re-enactment of his supposed death in Thor: The Dark World. Meanwhile, Luke Hemsworth and Sam Neill took the roles of his brother and father, respectively. There’s currently no confirmation of what – if any – role Damon will play in Thor: Love and Thunder.
See, there’s also the possibility that Damon and his family’s arrival in Australia have nothing to do with the movie. It could all just be a coincidence, albeit a very big one.
