Karen Gillan as Nebula made her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by way of 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. However, with the character so close to Avenger’s nemesis Thanos – his daughter, in fact – it was of course predictable that she would appear in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Now however, it seems Nebula is spreading her metaphorical wings even further.
Nebvula has been engaged in a lifelong sibling rivalry with sister Gamora, desperate to prove herself worthy of her father’s love. However, the events of the aforementioned Avengers movies put Nebula firmly on the ‘good guy’ side of the roster.
Given Nebula’s connections to the Guardians, and subsequently the Guardians’ connections to Thor established in Avengers: Infinity War, it might be easy to predict she would eventually be tied to Thor, too. However while some Thor: Love and Thunder cast members have been confirmed, there’s been nothing official regarding the Guardians of the Galaxy cast appearing in the movie. This includes Karen Gillan.
What we do have is two pieces of circumstantial – though very leading – evidence. Firstly is a quote from the actor behind Groot, Vin Diesel.
The director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy. That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.

So we know that some of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast will make the jump, but no confirmation of who. However, Karen Gillan has been posting images on social media that make it clear that she’s currently in Australia. Shooting on Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin there imminently, seemingly confirming that she’s involved.
Just a coincidence? Possibly, but it seems unlikely that Gillan would be vacationing on the other side of the world during a global pandemic.
