It seems to be sequel season in the horror movie business, at the moment. We’ve seen The Nun II trailer recently arrive as well as the first details for Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. Now it’s time to feast on the first official trailer for The Exorcist: Believer.
Details for the film first started coming to light in April during CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Attendees were given an exclusive look at The Exorcist: Believer trailer, with numerous publications reporting on what it contained. Now you get to see it for yourself, giving fans their first chance to critique the upcoming instalment.
The first Exorcist: Believer Trailer
Unlike other films in the franchise, this time around two girls are now possessed. And for the first time since the original 1973 film, we see the return of a famous character. Directed by David Gordon Green, he has confirmed that The Exorcist: Believer aims to reboot the franchise as well as being a direct sequel to the first film.
“Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding has raised their daughter, Angela on his own. But when Angela and her friend Katherine, disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil,” the synopsis explains.
Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her role as MacNeil. Coming to the aid of Victor to exorcise Pazuzu, the same demonic presence from the other films. Burstyn will be joined by Leslie Odom, Jr. as Victor, Lidya Jewett as Angela and Olivia Marcum as Katherine. Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary), Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones), and Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) also star.
