No, the Pixel Watch devices are not just Fitbits. They do, however, offer many features of Fitbit devices and even have collaborative technologies. In fact, it is essentially the flagship of Fitbit devices, taking all of Fitbit’s technology and wrapping it in a more fanciful skin, with all of Google’s WearOS functionality.
Despite Fitbit being the default fitness tracking experience on the Pixel Watch, a paid Fitbit Premium subscription isn’t required for basic health tracking functions. Features like heart rate monitoring, basic sleep tracking, and Fitbit’s Active Zone Minutes are available for free.
That being said, you’ll get six months of Fitbit Premium with Pixel Watch 2. This includes access to tools like Daily Readiness Score and Sleep Profile, a curated library of fitness and wellness content, and more detailed health insights.

In addition to the Fitbit range of software, there’s a number of apps built specifically for the Pixel Watch 2. Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Wallet are designed specifically for the Pixel Watch 2, and favourites such as Spotify, YouTube Music, Google Maps and WhatsApp.
Can You Leave Your Phone at Home with Google Watch?
With the 4G LTE version of the Pixel Watch 2, you can make and receive calls without your phone. However, with the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi option, you can do the same with your phone nearby. For phone calls, you can use Google Pixel Watch’s built-in speaker and mic or pair your watch with Pixel Buds.
