Pet Project Games’ Ripout has been on the horizon for quite some time. The early announcement of the game subsequently lead to a delay, with a 2023 release touted. Now the studio has clarified plans for launch, with Ripout hitting Steam Early Access later this month.
Ripout is an online co-op horror FPS. The game has players fight their way through procedurally generated derelict ships, each filled with mutants capable of reconfiguring their alien bodies. Players will fight alongside their trusty Pet Gun companion, collect loot, and customise their characters in their quest to find the last bastion of humanity.
The game has benefitted from two rounds of closed beta testing, two public demos, and several rounds of community feedback. And now, Pet Project Games has announced plans to launch Ripout into early access on 24th October, 2023.
Ripout Launch
The game will be released on PC initially. It will be available for purchase on the three major digital video game marketplaces: Steam, Epic Games Store, and GoG. Following this, Ripout will launch on consoles in early 2024. At this point, the team has only confirmed current-generation launches for Ripout. There’s no sign of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch editions.
“We are confident in the current state of the game to enter Early Access as we’re slowly approaching the finish line of the development,” said Goran Rajsic, Creative Director at Pet Project Games. “Our team has huge ambitions for the future of Ripout, and we’re looking forward to polishing it further throughout its Early Access period. We already have dozens of crazy content ideas we want to introduce through regular updates, and we want to hear player feedback to help guide us in the right direction.”
Ripout will be priced at $24.99 on all PC platforms. No price point has yet been announced for the Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 editions. Ripout is being published by 3D Realms.
