Heading back to Peru
Directed by Dougal Wilson and produced by Heyday Films, Paddington in Peru sees Ben Whishaw reprise his role as the titular marmalade-loving bear. “I am absolutely delighted to be working with such a wonderful cast on the next instalment of the Paddington story,” said Wilson. “I was already an enormous fan of our returning actors, but for them to be joined by Olivia, Antonio, Emily and Rachel is beyond thrilling.”
In this third instalment, “Paddington in Peru brings Paddington’s story full circle as he returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru,” the synopsis explains.
Based on the children’s books by British author Michael Bond, Whishaw will be joined by Imelda Staunton as Aunt Lucy. Co-stars include Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Julie Walters, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Jim Broadbent and Carla Tous. Tous is taking over from Rachel Zegler who was due to play Gina Cabot. Zegler was unable to work due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
