If you watched Dopestick on Disney+ and loved it so much you saw Netflix’s own Painkiller then get ready for Pain Hustlers. Another Netflix original, this pharma-based tale is loosely based on real events and features an all-star cast. Due to arrive later this month, the first Pain Hustlers trailer is now available.

A darkly comic portrayal of the highs and lows of a pharmaceutical company, the movie stars Chris Evans as Pete who hires Liza (Emily Blunt). A pharma startup on the brink of bankruptcy, Liza’s charm, drive, and guts catapult her into the high life and the company into the centre of a criminal conspiracy with dire consequences.

Every day we’re Hustling…

Blunt and Evans star alongside an all-star ensemble that includes Andy Garcia, Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice 2), Jay Duplass, Brian d’Arcy James, and Chloe Coleman. Pain Hustlers is directed by David Yates whose works include the Harry Potter films, Fantastic Beasts and The Legend of Tarzan.

The synopsis details:

Liza Drake (Blunt) is a blue-collar single mom who has just lost her job and is at the end of her rope. A chance meeting with pharmaceutical sales rep Pete Brenner (Evans) puts her on an upwards trajectory economically but dubious path ethically as she becomes entangled in a dangerous racketeering scheme. Dealing with her increasingly unhinged boss (Garcia), the worsening medical condition of her daughter (Coleman), and a growing awareness of the devastation the company is causing forces Liza to examine her choices. Pain Hustlers is a sharp and revealing look at what some people do out of desperation and others do out of greed.

Pain Hustlers comes to theatres on 20th October 2023. It’ll be available to stream on Netflix from 27th October.
